Abenson stays true to its core mission of creating joy through Project Cares. Last April 26, W&J Lim Foundation, together with volunteers from Abenson, visited Canumay National High School for a turnover ceremony. The school is located in the remote Sitio of San Ysiro in Antipolo, Rizal and 45% of its student population are Dumagats. They are the indigenous group residing in the mountains of Sierra Madre and their main source of livelihood is agriculture and farming.
W&J Lim Foundation donated a deepwell to the school ensuring the students’ health and safety during this summer season. According to the school head, before the construction of the deepwell, students from Grade 7 and Grade 9 would go to neighboring mountains just to collect water from springs for drinking, sanitation, and watering their vegetable garden at school. Students would have to walk an average of 30 minutes to get to school. Having the deepwell alleviated their struggle of having to walk more just to collect water.
The students of Canumay National High School held a program to give thanks to Project Cares which was followed by a small feast. Burgers and fried chicken are always a sure hit with the kids. In addition, undergarments and school supplies were also given to the students to help them with their basic necessities.
There is a greater duty than just being an appliance store and providing jobs. Uplifting the lives of not only the customers but also everyone. This is part of Abenson’s mission of bringing the good life to every Filipino.
