The wait is almost over! The PlayStation 5 announcement we’ve been wanting is finally happening. Originally scheduled earlier this month, Sony moved its PS5 event to give way to more important matters. On June 11 at 1PM Pacific Time (June 12, 4AM Manila Time), Sony plans to show off select upcoming PS5 games! 🎮
In a blog post on PlayStation’s website, Sid Shuman, Senior Director of Sony Interactive Entertainment Content Communications, said that the show will stream at 1080p and 30fps only. However, these games will run in glorious 4K on PS5. Sony asked for understanding since most of them are working from home due to the ongoing quarantine regulations.

Additionally, fans might want to watch with headphones on because of “some cool audio work” included in the show. Perhaps they’ll showcase spatial sound effects that’ll come to PS5 as well. We’ll know the real deal very soon! 👏
So far, Sony already revealed the PS5’s logo, specs, and the new DualSense controller. Specs-wise, the PS5 will have a custom eight-core AMD Zen 2 CPU, a custom AMD RDNA 2-based GPU, 16GB of GDDR6 RAM, and a proprietary SSD with 825GB of storage and 5.5GB/s of performance. The new controller, on the other hand, will feature haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, an on-board microphone, and a USB-C port.
What we don’t know yet is the actual console design, the price, and the exact launch date sometime in Q4 2020. Who’s excited? 🙋♂️
