After the Galaxy Fold, Samsung is now pushing folding phones to new heights. While the Galaxy Fold looks like a tablet and is business-like for most, Samsung’s latest foldable phone is more like a… phone. Alongside the Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy S20 Ultra, Samsung has unveiled the new Galaxy Z Flip.
The Galaxy Z Flip steers the foldable phone craze in the proper direction and it’ll certainly appeal to more consumers. It directly answers the common question: Why would I get a foldable phone? With the Galaxy Z Flip, you get a regular-sized phone that folds into a tiny clamshell device.
The phone, when unfolded, has a super tall 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED Display protected by a special ultra-thin glass that should be resistant to scratches. When in compact mode, the phone has a 1.1-inch secondary display to show notifications at a glance. The other body of the phone is built around a smooth layer of Gorilla Glass 6 and an aluminum frame.
Diving into the specs, the Galaxy Z Flip is powered by a 7nm octa-core chipset — specifically the Snapdragon 855+ with 4G connectivity. It comes with 8GB RAM and a generous 256GB of internal storage.

Camera-wise, the phone has a pair of 12-megapixel shooters on the outside. The main has an f/1.8 aperture, while the other one has an ultra-wide-angle lens. There’s a third camera in the Galaxy Z Flip’s display and it’s a 10-megapixel sensor designed for selfies. Also, Samsung is making a big deal about this because the phone’s unique folding design allows different angles for video calls or self-recording.

As for the battery, a modest 3,300mAh cell will keep the Galaxy Z Flip on. It isn’t much compared to the rest of Samsung’s new Galaxy S20 lineup, but it should be enough for a compact phone.
